A woman still to be identified was burnt to death in Ibadan, when a diesel tanker was suddenly detached from the chassis of a truck after it had not climbed a hill.
The diesel-loaded tanker crashed the car driven by the deceased. Eyewitnesses said the impact of the accident sparked a giant fire that burned the sole occupant of the car beyond the recognition.
The fire destroyed properties worth millions of Naira.
"The articulated vehicle, which was filled with diesel, came from the Eleiyele area and traveled towards Ologuneru hill.
When the truck was having trouble dragging the tanker on the hill, the tanker separated from the truck and crushed the car driven by the dead woman.
"It has also poured its contents onto the street, and the fire was kindled, the burning of the woman caught in the car and other vehicles," said a witness who identified himself as Yinka.
Yinka said that more than five homes were destroyed in the Inferno, adding that Diesel flowed to the Eleyele River, which is about 300 meters from the accident site.
One of the destroyed features was a church called Save and Serve Ministry, which was recently rebuilt after part of it was influenced by construction work on Ologuneru Street.
Firefighters from the Oyo State Fire Service hurried to the scene of the accident and fought hard to expose the fire.
Also present at the scene were Special Rescue Squad of the State Police Command and men of the Federal Road Safety Corps, which ensured that the order was maintained.
The combined efforts of the police, the FRSC and the fire brigade were necessary to remove the burned body of the deceased from their mutilated car.
